Gustaf Nordenskiold

Gustaf Nordenskiold is a Swedish artist and designer who lives and works in Stocholm. His products are made from traditional materials such as glass, ceramics and metal and his work harnesses a rough unfinished edge. His ceramic work deals with issues about functionality, primitivism and natural forces. Gustaf believes in allowing the manufacturing process to become a key aspect of his designs, he ensures to leave traces of the process in his final piece - the aim is to create work that activates memories, ambiguous objects that are easily identified and mysterious at the same time. Gustaf is using the randomness of nature and the rawness of his materials to create everyday objects, that have a poetic value and raise questions about their being.

The work of Gustaf Nordenskiold has been exhibited all over the globe, specifically in places such as Sweden, France and Arizona. He is also represented at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, ASU Art Museum in the US and the Ceramics Museum in Vallauris, France.
