Guglielmo Berchicci

Guglielmo Berchicci is an Italian architect and designer born in Milan. He graduated in architecture from Polytechnic University of Milan and opened his own studio in 1986, beginning a career that has moved fluidly between product design, lighting, architecture, and interiors. Berchicci has always had an interest in light and transforming unconventional and recyclable materials into expressive objects. This experimentation with materials helped establish the distinctive style that has become central to his later work.

Throughout his career, Guglielmo Berchicci has created numerous internationally recognised designs, particularly in lighting, with works such as the Loto and E.T.A lamps, which have become enduring examples of contemporary Italian design. The E.T.A lamp, which is still produced today, is hand-crafted from ecological fibreglass to form an asymmetrical, organic structure that has an otherworldly aesthetic. His work has been exhibited around the world, including in permanent collections in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan. Berchicci’s designs have also appeared in films, television, and advertising campaigns, demonstrating the lasting appeal of his work. Reflecting on the inspiration behind his work, Berchicci describes it as being rooted in the “simplicity and complexities of nature and life.”
