Giovanni Barbato

Giovanni Barbato is an Italian designer, born in Padua in 1974. Barbato developed a passion for design from a young age, leading him to work on projects for factories in the local area. After completing industrial design courses in Padua, Barbato went on to study glass processing techniques at the Scuola Abate Zanetti in Murano, before attending the University of Architecture in Venice. His varied education gave him a wealth of knowledge in the design industry, allowing him to quickly become a leading designer in the field.

Giovanni Barbato’s designs are characterised by simple and essential shapes. He believes in producing products that are both essential and innovative, an ethos echoed in his clean and unique designs. He has collaborated with worldwide brands including Axolight, AV Light, Prandina, and Vistosi. He produced the Hoops Collection for Axolight, an instantly recognisable lamp that features ribbon-like rods that dance around a central light source.

Throughout his career, Giovanni Barbato has been awarded numerous prestigious accolades, including the Good Design Award in 2013, awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
