Daniel Lopez

Daniel López is an industrial designer from Santa Coloma de Gramenet, near Barcelona. His interest in how things work began in childhood, encouraged by his father through repairing objects and experimenting with small electric motors and light bulbs. He first studied within the car industry before moving into industrial design at Elisava School in Barcelona.

López entered lighting almost by chance, working for two years in product development before joining Marset’s technical department in 2003. His role at Marset brought him into close contact with a wide range of designers, helping to develop their lamps while keeping the original character of each design intact. This technical background is central to his work, combining an understanding of engineering, materials, and everyday use.

He is best known for designing Ledtube, one of Marset’s most recognisable reading lights. The design reflects López’s practical approach, with a compact form, focused beam, and simple movement developed for bedrooms, hotel rooms, and contract interiors. Alongside his own design work, he has developed the technology behind many Marset products and has also worked as the brand’s technical director.
