Claire Lavabre is a French designer and photographer, born in 1986. Her path into design began while studying law, when a presentation by ENSCI-Les Ateliers introduced her to the discipline and inspired a change in direction. She later studied industrial design at ENSCI-Les Ateliers, graduating with honours in 2012. After completing her studies, Lavabre gained valuable experience through internships at the studios of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Inga Sempé, and Leon Ransmeier.

Lavabre’s work is defined by balanced compositions that explore colour, texture, and form while carefully uniting functionality with a poetic sensibility. Inspired by contemporary culture and the natural world, she often incorporates mirrors into her designs, using reflection in inventive ways to create expressive and unexpected installations. She has collaborated with notable international brands and companies, and in 2025 began working with lighting brand HAY.

“When I start a project, I let my gaze wander over reality. I question it until a detail calls out to me and an impression emerges. I then seek to shape this impression, to shape this echo by combining the elements provided by this sensory experience. I imagine devices, systems to domesticate the perception experienced.” - Claire Lavabre
