Christian Troels studied at Kolding School of Design, where he graduated in 2012. He is a versatile designer educated in transportation design, multimedia design, and industrial design. Troels found that in transportation design, the process of getting a design to the final product was a slow one. He admits that he didn’t have the patience or enjoy depending on engineers while designing. Finding that furniture and lighting design suited him better, Troels has found the balance between time spent designing, time on the computer, and building.
Christian Troels has a playful approach to designs, and always finds a way to inject some of his character and a unique aspect into his work. During his career, he has worked with notable brands including LEGO and Le Klint. In 2020 he appeared on TV show “Denmark’s Next Classic”, where he described himself as a “charismatic, innovative and dynamic designer who dares to think outside the box.” Troels now works from his studio in Denmark. Over the years, he has won a number of accolades including Design Awards 2014 , Bo Bedre/Costume Living/Bolig Magasinet Lamp of the year.
"My approach to design is that the process is more interesting than the function of the actual product. That’s how design can tell a story, but it can also make you feel stuff." - Christian Troels
