Christian Juhl is a Danish designer with a strong background in product and furniture design. He began his career at the renowned Rud. Rasmussen in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, where he worked as an apprentice cabinetmaker. In 2017, he graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts with a Master’s Degree in Furniture Design. Juhl takes an innovative and enquiring approach to design to create contemporary pieces that are created to last a lifetime.

For HAY, Christian Juhl designed the Drome Table Lamp, a unique lamp characterised by its distinctive oval silhouette. The lamp’s archetypal, yet contemporary expression beautifully captures Juhl’s explorative use of materials, crafts, and joinery. Throughout his career, Christian Juhl has won numerous notable awards, including Finalist at the FSC Design Award, 2011, Winner of the Bolia Design Award, 2012, and Talent of the Year, Design Awards 2017.

“It is very often that my work has a background in old craftsman techniques. From the hatter's technique of hardening the felt for a hat to the latch hinges or old knitting techniques. My point is that we should remember to appreciate the old craft techniques that have been developed through the knowledge of working hands.” - Christian Juhl
