Arihiro Miyake was born in Japan in 1975. He studied at the Kobe Design University in Japan, where he graduated in 1999, before moving to Finland. Through the Aalto University in Finland, he acquired his master's degree in furniture and spatial design. After graduating, Miyake spent years working for a few design studios in Helsinki and Milan before opening his studio “Studio Arihiro Miyake” in 2004. Since opening his studio, Miyake has worked with several notable companies around the world, including Moooi and Nemo Lighting.
Arihiro Miyake specialises in creating modern pieces that are as functional as they are attractive. Due to his education from both Japan and Finland, Miyake can merge Japanese minimalism with European design tradition. Throughout his career, Arihiro Miyake has been awarded several notable awards and accolades, including the International Design Award, Best of Lighting from Elle Décor Magazine, and has been featured in exhibitions worldwide, including the Louvre Museum, Paris/France, Alvar Aalto Museum/Finland, and Helsinki Design Museum, Helsinki/Finland.
