Alfred Homann is a Danish designer who was born in Denmark in 1948. He studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where, alongside his studies, he worked for various Danish and American architects. Two years after graduating, at the age of 30, he founded his own design studio in the city.

Homann's approach to design is holistic, aiming to decipher connections between the object and its purpose. All his products are characterised by the fact that the fixture forms the light and the light forms the fixture. Leaning into the iconic themes of Danish design, Homann creates products that are imbued with his thoroughness and attention to detail.

In addition to his studio in Copenhagen, Alfred Homann also established Homann Design Inc. in the United States in 1987-95, where he worked on many different projects and products. His work history testifies to a productive career, which includes several architectural projects as well as furniture designs. Over the years, he has won numerous awards for his buildings, furniture and light fixtures. Homann has also travelled the world as a visiting professor, giving lectures as well as exhibiting his designs across the world.
