Adrien Gardère was born in France in 1972 and studied French Literature in Hypokhâgne before training as a furniture designer at the École Supérieure d’Arts Appliqués Boulle and the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs. That combination of literary study and design training sits behind a practice shaped by both object-making and wider cultural context.
Adrien Gardère’s designs have been produced and distributed by major furniture and lighting brands, including Artemide, Ligne Roset, Cinna, Perimeter Editions, and Saazs. His work has also entered the permanent collection of public design institutions, including the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain in France, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Design Centro do Bélem in Lisbon.
Adrien Gardère founded his Studio in 2000 and expanded his work into museography and exhibition design, establishing enduring relationships with major international institutions and architects, including Foster+Partners, SANAA, David Chipperfield, and Fumihiko Maki. He sees each project as an opportunity to create a unique and legitimate design, where design and content meet visitors’ expectations and provide a visual, educational, and uplifting experience.
