Innermost from David Village Lighting
Steve Jones & Russell Cameron founded Innermost in 1999. They gave up their jobs within design consultancy and furniture design to follow a dream to create a unique but diverse furniture and lighting brand that they hoped in time would achieve global recognition. They rented the corner of an old lighting factory in NW10 London and began to work with a variety of other designers from around the world who had all also made London their home. They still ruggedly adhere to their initial philosophy – to be ‘as British as London itself’ – that is to say very British and then again not British at all but a beautiful and exciting mix of what the entire world can offer. It is brand that is focused on the future but understands exactly where it has come from and what it is made of.

The Innermost Story
As we head into a new year we take a look at the story behind innermost and some of our favourite designs.
Back in 1999 Steve Jones and Russell Cameron shared a vision to create a company which utilised their extended experience in design consultancy and furniture design. The pair through their experience had seen plenty of raw, talented designers that were never being advanced beyond the conceptual. They realised that if they combined their design and manufacturing experience with these concepts that they could turn the ideas in unique and diverse products under just a single brand.
During the early discussions came that of choosing a stand out name for their brand. They thought about a name which was ‘close to their hearts’; ‘the inner thoughts; ‘the inner-most dreams’… And so, innermost was born.
With their instinctive desire to be rebels from the norm they utilise materials and processes in unique ways to defy expectations. With there depth of experience it allows them to rethink conventional approaches and explore their passion for light and how illumination can be used as a raw material.
The innermost team are passionate about each and every design and the high level of detail which goes into its production. Their hands on approach to manufacturing sees them travelling the world to source to best quality materials and best producer for every component of every product. However, whether they are prototyping in Hong Kong, using hand-blown glass by artisans in the Czech Republic, or doing bespoke engineering at their factory in the UK they remain close the manufacturing at every level.
Their designs bring people together whether in a cafés, bars or meeting rooms they’re perfect for brightening up central spaces and helping to celebrate the social side of life.
As a company of designers, curators and industry experts they thrive from taking wild ideas and creating beautiful, thoughtful and innovative products.

New from Innermost
We’ve been updating Innermost on our website and below we have their newest designs including their new Essential Collection which is available now!
Part of the Innermost Essential Collection, the Boule light is a beautiful sphere which makes a great impact with a range of classic finishes.
2) Innermost Jelly
The Jelly lamps are fitted with transparent hand blown glass shades. With four colours across two sizes, the collection truly comes alive when mixed and matched together.
3) Innermost Drop
Drop is a white frosted glass globe delicately topped with a white powder coated stainless steel cap which resembles a drop of pristine pearl.
The Membrane lamp has a smokey hand-blown glass body that has three bulbs which meet the shade to become one. Details such as a gentle gradient in smoky glass coupled with polished gunmetal fittings result in a beautifully sophisticated design.
5) Innermost Core
Also part of the Essential Collection is Core designed by Steve Jones and Frankie Chan from Innermost. The shape resembles a mass of glass which has been formed by rolling the substance immediately after removal from the furnace.
The Innermost Bracket light is a minimal slim wall fitting based on the design of the Bolt and fitted with an integrated LED.
2) Innermost Pomelo
From innermost’s Essentials Collection, Pomelo deliberately provides an ambient effect with a subtle soft diffusion of light from the white opal glass shade.
Innermost Metallic has an amazing, sparkling Laminated Cast Vinyl shade creating a reflective surface which is available in Orange, Blue, Pink and Green.
Following the successful collaboration with YOY on the popular YOYLight, a table lamp which projects a virtual lampshade on a back surface, they have released the YOYWall, a minimal wall lamp which projects the same shade.
5) Innermost Bolt
Bolt reclaims the industrial look in a contemporary space with this dimmable LED wall lamp designed with the inspiration of a building’s history that weighs heavily on each nut and bolt.

New from Innermost - Asteroid in Petrol finish
To mark the 10th anniversary of the unique Asteroid range, Innermost have created a matching table lamp and pendant light in petrol finish. The petrol finish of the lamp gives an iridescent effect to the irregular faced glass, where no single side is equal to another. The asteroid was originally designed by Koray Ozgen ten years ago for its reveal at the 100% Design London exhibition, since then the geometric pendant and table light have been exceedingly popular in both commercial and residential locations.
The pendants work well singularly and as a cluster, the cluster creating an eye catching effect of each being a different size from the next, which is the result of its 24 sides being completely different dimensions. They are now available to order online.
