Bocci from David Village Lighting
In 2005, Bocci was founded in a red barn surrounded by hay fields, on the periphery of Vancouver, Canada. The company launched with one product, 14, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Today, Bocci has a growing portfolio of contemporary design ranging from light installations through to furniture and electrical sockets. All Bocci designs are developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale.
With headquarters in Vancouver and Berlin, Bocci operates as a co-operative community of designers, architects, craftspeople, technicians, agents, governance bodies, testing facilities, raw material suppliers, and fine shops. They strive for a healthy, flexible, and stable network united by the goal of creating and delivering extraordinary objects.

Bocci’s Living Archive in Berlin
Unique lighting brand Bocci never fails to dazzle with their creative designs and displays. Bocci’s New Berlin headquarters is no exception, with 40 rooms, corridors and spaces which are now open to the public. This building serves as a display of the most successful lighting features from the company, as well as their experiments and creative projects.
Omer Arbel the creative director of Bocci: ‘Our work is an analogue set of experiments that usually fail but sometimes succeed.’
The rooms at Berlin HQ are visual presentations of experimentations, prototypes and exploratory projects. Many creations by Arbel and his team are usually unseen or unheard of, this display shows the capabilities and artistic vision of the company. The walls are mostly painted white, with a tide of its original colour left to represent the new wave of Bocci, these bare rooms give life to the imaginative lighting pieces.
Two particularly creative pieces (as seen above) show labour intensive processes, producing something almost alien in its appearance.
‘76’ pictured left is a glass orb filled with white glass strands, a vacuum then forms this truly original pendant, Abel calls this a discovery by mistake!
The garland like pendant pictured on the right is named ‘71’, consisting of metal bolts wrapped in copper wire. It is dipped thousands of times in a nickel based chemical solution; a large amount of electricity is then passed through the garland to create these coral like metal features.
Once these designs and processes are refined, they may be seen in future collections available for purchase! But until then, browse their current ranges for a piece of art to illuminate your space…

Bocci 14 Series
The 14 series, was designed for Bocci by Omer Arbel. The 14 series challenges traditional chandelier design. Instead of a central sculptural object, the 14 series is an ambient chandelier, achieving its power through composition and clustering. Each glass pendant is handmade. When lit the small imperfections and bubbles in the glass produce a glow reminiscent of small candles floating within spheres of water.
The 14 series offers flexibility in both design and scale, starting from a single pendant and continuing through to 36 pendant chandeliers in a range of canopy shapes and sizes.
