Louis Poulsen PH Artichoke Glass Suspension

The PH Artichoke Glass is a glare-free pendant consisting of 72 clear glass leaves in a sandblasted finish. The glass leaves shield the light source, redirecting and reflecting the light onto the underlying leaves illuminating the fixture as a design feature in any space. The soft light is diffused through the leaves to produce soft comfortable light. Lit as well as unlit, the fixture leaves have an “ice look” that adds elegance and lightness to any room.

The glass version of PH Artichoke dates back to 1927-31, when Poul Henningsen designed a glass pendant by the name of PH Septima – a pendant with seven glass shades, which was manufactured by Louis Poulsen until 1940 when it was phased out due to lack of materials during the war. Then, when Poul Henningsen was asked to design a fixture for the Langelinie Pavillonen restaurant in 1958, he designed the Artichoke light in three months based on the ideas behind PH Septima.

The Original Artichoke was made with copper leaves, but Louis Poulsen have released a glass version, based on the PH Septima. This pendant is available in 4 sizes and several different dimming and LED options.
