Arturo Alvarez from David Village Lighting
Spanish lighting design company Arturo Alvarez aims always to thrill and excite. The designs are very original and always carefully hand-made by experts. Arturo Alvarez is the driving force of the company and one of its founders. He is the brand creative director and also product supervisor. The company is dedicated to the design and manufacture of decorative hand-made lamps. They use and mix materials to re-invent and create new ones is one of the key points of their identity. Their original designs used stained glass to create a simple style that felt fresh and contemporary. Recently they have begun to design lights using a silicone mesh material which allows them to create different textures and endless possibilities. Arturo keeps exploring the possibilities of weaving with different materials and recreates ancient flavours from his home in Spain

Arturo Alvarez’s Ballet Collection wins Best of the Year!
Last year was a great year for Arturo Alvarez as it won the Best of the Year Award for its Ballet Chandelier Collection. The Ballet composition was the winner of the category, Lighting Chandeliers, which was revealed during the award ceremony attended by the Arturo Alvarez team.
The awards are organised by Interior Magazine, a global reference in the industry, these awards recognise the most significant designs of the year.
Arturo Alvarez have shared their happiness regarding receiving the award stating “It’s a great satisfaction that our chandelier, designed by Héctor Serrano and made based on the experimentation with Simetech, a material registered by arturo alvarez, has been chosen as the best of the year, something that strengthens our trust in the innovation and the development and use of new materials”.
Ballet is a collection of pendants that arises from the experimentation with Simetech. The material allows forms to be created from the overlap and joints of their vertices, leaving freedom in the flexibility of the material. The result is a fluid shape which changes depending on the point of view.
Plie, Relevé, Elancé ... a constant dance of light and shadows.

Arturo Alvarez – Where the Light Comes From
Spanish lighting design company, Arturo Alvarez aim to thrill and excite with all of their beautiful hand made designs.
Surrounded by trees and covered in ivy their picturesque workshop is based in the northwest of Spain surrounded by the Atlantic Forest. Despite being advised to not stray to far from logistic and trade centres, they stood strong putting their lamps unique designs down to the place of their creation.
A strong focus on detail has always been part of the essence of Arturo Alvarez, learning from handcrafts such as from pottery to basket making, from carpentry to day-to-day work in the countryside.
The trees, flowers and animals are transformed into textures, volumes and materials which are the basis of their lamps.
This influence of the environment is obvious in their collections. With its slender feminine silhouette, Gea represents the origin: mother earth. Muu takes its shapes from the animals which the countrymen used to work with, while the proximity of the sea is expressed in an evocative way in the organic volumes of Coral.
Arturo Alvarez work hard to give back to the environment what they take. They work to implement new technologies which contribute to saving energy and creating a more sustainable production by incorporating recycled materials into their catalogue.
Despite being far away from where the trends are generated their experience has shown them that beauty in design is hidden in the landscape, waiting to be found.
