Winning multiple awards and created by internationally renowned designers, these stylish, contemporary pieces will be a hot talking point for any visitors throughout the upcoming year, while also easily fitting into any modern space.

Reducing well-known forms into their simplest expression, Tempo is an award-winning collection that uses initiative LED technology to create an elegant, sophisticated effect.

Selected as winner of the 2018 Archiproducts Design Awards (ADA) for outstanding design in lighting, Tempo was inspired by lighting archetypes seen throughout history.  Designed by Barcelona-based studio Lievore Altherr, who was influenced by different culture and regions across the globe, Tempo is entirely simplistic, yet chic. Available in three designs in two sizes (all with their distinct look and feel), Vibia has created a collection entirely transferable to any modern day setting.

Duo is a versatile collection, combining a natural wood finish with a technological twist, to create a re-imagined design trend.

Duo is available in 5 different styles, as well as multiple colour options, making it ideal for a range of interior designs. Lovingly crafted by Ramos and Bassols, these dome shaped ceiling lights combines the organic warm appearance of wood with the technological refinement of metal. This results in a traditional – yet fashionable effect- and with so many options to choose from, Duo really can do it all!

Making a minimalistic statement, the Structural collection is an architectural eye-catching piece that is highly flexible to fit-in areas light would not normally occur.

Inspired by ancient primate architecture (such as caves), Arik Levy has created the Structural collection. Combining both indirect and direct LED light through cubic volumes that form sculptures integrated into the architecture of each space, this collection can be easily introduced into any space. And will be a hot talking point for guests as well.  Encased in a spare aluminium box and paired with thin metal rods that both reinforce and divide the geometric forms, it creates the appearance of points of light linked in space.Available for either a ceiling or a wall – and with multiple design to pick from – Structural has something for anyone. This highly versatile piece can be easily welcomed into either a historical or contemporary building.

David Village Recommends: Bedroom Luminaires.

From our extensive selection of contemporary iconic lighting designs, we handpick our most suitable for the bedroom.

Send yourself into a peaceful slumber…
Bedroom lighting is an important aspect of your personal space, get it right and your room will be transformed into an area of tranquillity.

Lightyears Night Owl

Lightyears Night Owl: £112.20

From our knowledge and experience, we know that the type of light you choose will have an impact on the feeling and mood of your space.

A diffused or indirect light source is ideal for the bedside to promote a relaxing atmosphere. There is no risk of glare or over-exposure, let your eyes re-adjust for the evening to set the tone for restful sleep or peaceful time for reflection. We would recommend lamps with frosted or opal glass diffusers, creating a soft glowing effect. In-direct light can be an effective design feature to create a good amount of light but shield the eyes from the unwanted brightness.

Flos IC Low table

Flos IC Low Table: £289.00

How much light is required for your contemporary space?

Choosing the amount of light you need: What do you realistically require the light for? Do you need a bit of extra light for basic tasks such as reading or do you purely use your space for rest? If you need a little versatility then a lamp with a dimmer function will suit perfectly.

Marset Dipping lamp

Marset Dipping Lamp: £192.98

Size and design must be taken into consideration to get the most out of your light.

The third and final contributing factor to choosing a Bedroom light is size. Will this fit by your bedside? Is it a design feature or a subtle implement? Space can sometimes be an issue within the bedroom, to which many people turn to the wall light for a savvy solution.

Vibia Pin wall

Vibia Pin wall: £228.89

Coelux

Established in 2009 CoeLux have created a unique lighting system which reproduces the true effect of natural sunlight entering through an opening in the integrated ceiling, with a realistic sun perceived at infinite distance surrounded by a clear deep blue sky.

Coelux

David Village Lighting is very excited to now be working with Coelux and bring you the experience of the sky. We are always looking to work with the latest technology and we love the CoeLux design so much we are installing an integrated panel into our new Broomhill, Sheffield showroom.

Coelux

The beautiful skylight look is achieved thanks to the comprehensive work carried on by an interdisciplinary team of researchers in the field of optical physics, numerical modelling, chemistry, material science, architecture and design.

CoeLux combines three key elements: the latest LED technology which reproduces the sunlight’s spectrum; a sophisticated optical system that creates the sensation of the distance between the sky and the sun; and nanostructured materials, only a few millimeters thick, which recreate the entire Rayleigh scattering process which occurs in the atmosphere.

“CoeLux lighting systems reproduce a virtual experience of the sun and sky; especially in a below-ground environment, the effect is so powerful that it may radically change our perception of reality. It allows us to rediscover natural light in the real world in a totally new and surprising way”.

Prof. Paolo Di Trapani, company founder and CEO

Diesel for Foscarini

Product Focus - Diesel with Foscarini Glass Drop

The Diesel with Foscarini Glass Drop pendant resembles a white-hot drop of glass before it takes shape. When off, the light is decorative with mirrored surfaces and when on, a warm light filters through its iridescent diffuser.

Diesel for Foscarini

Foscarini

New in from Foscarini

Satellight

Foscarini

The new collection Satellight by Foscarini is designed by Eugeni Quitllet, a graduate from Llotja ArtSchool in Barcelona. Satellight is a simple, immediately understandable object but at the same time it is original and profound in its poetic lightness, that goes straight to the heart.

The diffuser is handcrafted milk white blown glass which is placed in a transparent blown glass body that like magic seems to support the core of the satellight, capturing its light.

When on thanks to a dimmable LED source it gives a warm, soft and gentle light adding precious reflections to the shiny transparent glass of the enclosure. The collection includes a suspension and table version which are both available online now.

Click here to view the Satellight collection!

Filo

Foscarini

The new Filo table design by Andrea Anastasio comes from the desire to display the individual parts that go into a lamp; the light source, decoration and electrical wiring. The character of the lamp is the result of using decoration to play a fundamental role, incorporating elements that are not traditionally considered decorative. The wire which allows the lamp to perform its purpose runs along through the cord, spheres and bulbs of glass which transform the design into the archetype of a necklace.

The table lamps has a wide range of colour options from watercolour tones to the transparent hues of Murano glass, bright colours with ethnic colours to the fluorescent tones of contemporary cityscapes, making it a light fitting in a wide range of settings.

Click here to view the Filo table lamp!

Arumi

Foscarini

Arumi, designed by Lecidi e Pevere reflects Foscarini’s ability to transform an industrial object made in die-cast aluminium alloy, into a finely crafted artefact. Handcrafted, the irregular finish of all the outer surfaces and the three reliefs bring rhythm to the piece. The pendant is a precious elegant pendant and beautiful either on or off. When on the luminous part has been designed to be gentle on eye of the observer and soft in its light emission to enhance the elegance of the polished interior.

The LED light source is shielded from view as placed inside a very pure transparent cylinder specifically designed to project the beam onto the polished inner walls and projects the light downwards. Arumi can be used on its own, in cluster or in linear compositions with the Foscarini multiple ceiling plate.

Resident

New in!

Resident has recently released 2 new collections and a new finish to their well loved Parison Pendant collection. Below we have all you need to know about the new arrivals!

Bloom Pendant

Resident

The beautiful new Bloom Pendant is inspired by the gentle flow of paper lanterns. When lit the pendant has a glorious warm glow which is the result of transparency and light. The light is created with two contrasting materials; a finely perforated mesh core and frosted blown glass. When combined, they create a soft textured focus onto the inside of the shade. At the same time a clear pool of light is projected downwards creating a distinct light which when either on or off is a versatile unobtrusive light.

Click here to view the Bloom Pendant!

Circus Pendant

Resident

The new Circus collection is a remarkable system of interconnected rings which can be arranged in a number of sequences to create a striking focal decoration. The Circus is designed by Resident Studio and each of the brass rings projects out a elegantly diffused warm LED light source which goes around 360 degrees.

The Circus Pendant is available as either 50cm diameter which holds a minimum of 2 rings and a maximum of 6 six rings or 75cm diameter which holds a minimum of 2 rings and a maximum of 4 rings.

Circus is a flexible system which can suit spaces of various shapes and sizes and ideal for commercial and residential environments.

Parision Pendant

Resident

The Parison pendant was originally designed in 2014 by Nat Cheshire with a gradient of opaque black to translucent at the base. The Parison Pendant is now also available with opaque white at the top which graduates to transparent at the base. Parison is a beautiful mouth blown glass pendant with the underside surface containing slanted angles which creates a contradiction between fluid and jagged. The pendant houses a LED bulb which creates a soft warm glowing fixture ideal for any space.

David Village Lighting

During our visit to the Stockholm Furniture and Lighting Fair we got the chance to see some of the latest designs from the brands that we work with.

Light Years

Released late last year the Suspence collection from Light Years is already a popular design of theirs. The inspiration for the design by GamFratesi's was translating a movement into a physical shape. The pendants design is perceived to be uninterrupted with an infinity diffuser at the bottom which prevents glare and creates an elegant diffused light.

Released at the same time was the Suspence Nomad which is designed to be placed on a horizontal surface for example a floor or staircase. Just like a nomad it can be moved from place to place with ease by lifting the silicone handle at the top.

Light Years

Orsjo

Konkret is a brand new pendant by Orjso which caught everyone attention at the fair. The series puts Orsjo’s constituent material to the test. Despite the pendants name suggesting a much harder material it is made from ash veneer with a black ombre tint and has fine details such its brass studs which attached the leather straps.

“I wanted to challenge the way we use wood as a material for lights and show how the texture of the material can be changed through its design and how this also creates a natural and warm light,” says designer Jonas Edvard.

Orsjo

Louis Poulsen

This year Louis Poulsen has released one new design and has updated 2 of it most popular collections. At their stand in Stockholm they had all three of the latest releases. Shown below are a few designs from the updated PH collection and the new Above pendant. Keep your eyes peeled as we will soon be revealing the second collection to be updated by Louis Poulsen.

Louis Poulsen

Foscarini

Late last year Foscarini along with the Aplomb Large released the Spokes 2 Large pendant and the New Buds collection. The three designs have already proved popular with their simple and modern design. All three work well to be placed either in the home or in a commercial area.

Foscarini

Secto

Finnish based lighting company Secto made a simple yet stunning display. The company specialises in hand-made wooden design lighting. Their stand showed two new designs, the new Teelo table and a yet unnamed wall light. The Teelo table has a simple yet stylish design which incorporates a sculptural tone and secto’s signature clean lines.

The new wall was designed in response to the clear demand for a light which is not suspended but fixed. The design brings a new character to ceiling and wall fixtures where wood is not a material commonly used.

New - Muuto Framed

17 August 2016 Permalink

Muuto

Here at David Village we don’t only specialise in lighting, we love furniture and accessorise too! So we introduce to you the new Muuto Framed Mirror collection designed by Anderssen & Voll.

Muuto

The Framed collection is a series of mirrors with coloured glass in two sizes and three colour options; Taupe, Rose and Grey. The coloured glass challenges the way a classic mirror is placed within an interior and adds dimension to the room. The mirrors can be hung on their own or in group, creating an art-like installation on a wall.

The mirror’s formation begins when a steel plate is worked through three rounds to create the desired shape, the surface is then powder lacquered using a highly durable lacquer. Lastly the mirror glass is gently placed creating the little gap between the mirror’s frame and the glass.

Muuto

The designers of the Framed Mirror series, Anderssen & Voll expressed “We wanted to create a mirror that was more than merely a reflective surface. FRAMED is a new perspective to the classic framed mirror; it is a decorative design piece that leads your thoughts to installation art. It adds not only the functionality of a mirror to your home, but with its depth, organic shape and tone-in-tone colour, it is almost perceived as an art object on the wall. The FRAMED mirror can hang beautifully on your walls alone or combined with other sizes and colours.”
