Thursday’s episode of Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House with George Clarke featured an amazing transformation at a house in Nottingham.

Home owner Mandy enlisted the help of award-winning architects Howard Evans and Prue Chiles from CE+CA to make her house a beautiful home again. David Village Lighting were delighted to help with providing the Architectural lighting effects.

Orsjo

Product Focus – Örsjö Belysning Baklava

The Baklava collection was first unveiled in 2011 as part of Claesson Koivisto Rune’s commission to design the highly renowned Nobis Hotel on Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.

Orsjo

The families name is a nod to the Turkish pastry baked in different layers which is reflected in the shades design.

The aim was to create a lamp with a soft glare and a smooth character. The shade is crafted from multiple textile layers which are draped and tied together at the top and bottom. There is a red plexiglass disc placed under the light source which emits a soft, reddish-pink glow at the bottom when lit. When off the fabric is white.

The wide range of sizes and models enables a selection of inspiring group arrangements.

“Designing a lamp isn’t so difficult, but coming up with something new which stands out from the crowd is another matter entirely.”

“We wanted to create a more unconventional lamp for Hotel Nobis, so we started experimenting, before eventually deciding on the shade wrapped in fabric and the tied cords. The red filter makes the light even softer.”

Wastberg

New from Wastberg – w171 Alma

The w171 Alma collection designed by Tham & Videgård includes a suspension, wall and ceiling.

Alma suspension can be hung freely above a table or in a large room with multiple others creating a floating point of light.

Wastberg

The light image of the concentric circles can be varied depending on the choice of light source. The soft shapes create a pleasant atmosphere and in daylight the satin matte finish create a beautiful statement.

With its slim silhouette, w171 alma can also be mounted directly onto the ceiling or wall.

The w171 Alma lamp was originally developed for a brand new co-working facility project in Stockholm, called Alma. Tham & Videgård was entrusted with refurbishing the five floors, and with developing the light sources of the building together with Wästberg.

Louis Poulsen

Limited Edition PH 3½-3 Amber coloured Glass Pendant

Louis Poulsen has just released a limited edition of Poul Henningsen’s PH 3½-3 pendant design.

The pendant features amber coloured glass and a brass suspension and will be available for just two months, from November through to December, 2017.

Louis Poulsen

Louis Poulsen and Poul Henningsen initially introduced coloured glass lamps in the late 1920s to attract new customers which proved successful.

The limited edition finish accentuates the PH 3½-3’s warmth and the size makes it ideal for use over a dinning table or in an arrangement of multiple pendants.

Louis Poulsen

“As the glass of each pendant is crafted individually, each lamp varies ever so slightly from the others, resulting in unique pieces that are as much works of art as functional additions to home or work spaces.”

“We are thrilled to offer the classic PH 3½-3 in this beautiful new variant, which reflects today’s growing retro trends and an increasing desire to incorporate warm metallic tones like gold and brass into contemporary interiors.”

Rasmus Markholt, Idea & Design Director at Louis Poulsen

The PH 3½-3 Amber Coloured Pendant features Poul Henningsen’s legendary three-shade system, invented in 1926 and known for its ability to direct the majority of the light downwards while eliminating glare. The amber tone and glossy surface on the shades’ exterior, combined with the sandblasted matt underside results in a soft diffused light distribution. The brushed brass suspension has been left untreated, allowing it to become darker with individualised patina over time, unless polished.

Slamp

New Brand – Slamp

Slamp began in 1992, founded by luxury Italian designer Roberto Ziliani. After working in the design industry for over a decade he decided he wanted to create an accessible, cool object that would revolutionise lighting.

Ziliani says, “When I founded Slamp, I wanted to bring something completely new to the design panorama, uniting almost artisan skill with the excellence of industrial production”.

Slamp

Slamp devotes itself to decorative design lamps, capturing the most current tends and drawing on the natural world, architectonic, sartorial virtuosity and artistic developments. Slamp transforms these into luminous objects, which are both suggestive and versatile. They do this thanks to the use of a new generation of materials and special manual assembly of parts that, once put together, gives life to a luxurious, figurative panorama.

Bocci

New in from Bocci

76 Series

Bocci

The new 76 series from Bocci is composed of hot white and clear glass with a copper mesh between. A vacuum is introduced which causes the white layer to pull away through the embedded mesh. The Pendant has a beautiful brushed nickel canopy and is available with customisable lengths and compositions.

Click here to view the 76 collection!

84 Series

Bocci

Brand new from Bocci, the 84 pendant is a white glass moil captured inside a fine copper mesh basket which is then plunged into hot clear glass. Air is then blown into the matrix to gently push the white glass through the mesh, creating a delicate pillowed form that is suspended inside the thick outer layer of clear glass. Each piece is hand made with the copper mesh basket sometimes folding and crinkling, adding a unique touch to each light.

The pendant drop lengths are customisable and are available with either a low-voltage Xenon or LED light source.

Click here to view the 83 collection!

87 Series

Bocci

The new 87 series is created using soda water to trap air in a super heated glass matrix which is vertically stretched and folded back onto itself between pegs numerous times. As the glass cools, the folding motion traps the air along the loop and gives the light its pearlescent optical quality.

The pendant is suspended from a canopy with swag hooks, enabling the pendants to be hung in any number of points and create a beautiful illusion.

As with the 84 series the 87 pendants drop length are customisable and available either a low-voltage Xenon or LED light source.

Louis Poulsen

Now Available

We recently showed you the latest 3 releases from Louis Poulsen and we are super excited to announce that they are now available to order online. The releases include the new Yuh collection, the new finishe of the VL38 and the new finishes of the Doo-Wop.

David Village Lighting

                                          Yuh                                          VL38                                     Doo-Wop

In addition the fourth release from Louis Poulsen, the new PH5 Mini suspension, will be available from the beginning of October.

The PH5 Mini is a smaller version of the original PH5 design by Poul Henningsen in 1958. The PH5 was introduced as a classic new product, one that is completely glare-free.

Louis Poulsen

With the PH5 design Henningsen wanted to improve the colour reproduction of the light source. Small red and blue shades were inserted to supplement the colour in the part of the spectrum where the eye is least sensitive – the red and blue areas – thereby subduing the light in the middle yellow-green region where the eye is most sensitive.

The new PH 5 Mini is introduced with an innovative new colour palette, developed in collaboration with colour expert Louise Sass with the darkest tone at the top and then softened shade by shade.

The Mini will be available in the Classic colour version of PH 5, a new contemporary white, and an additional six colour finishes: Hues of Orange, Hues of Rose, Hues of Red, Hues of Green, Hues of Blue and Hues of Grey.

Bover

New in from Bover

Bover has recently released their latest products for 2017 and below we have all you need to know about the new collections.

Drop

Bover

The Drop’s goal was clear from the beginning: to make a cascade pendant available with 1,6,7,12,24,36 and 48 pendants suspended. From the initial pendant design then came several wall lights, two table lamps and a floor lamp with a support tray and USB connection. The Drop’s small screen is made from borosilicate glass, finer and more delicate than blown glass.

"I was looking for a very bright light, and the translucent glass and its shape contribute to it. The light source is an LED that is hidden so that light is the only protagonist. Then, when the light is projected and reflected in the materials that are found along the way, it creates a set of sparkles and shadows. Its light is intimate, but it also has a practical utility for those who are nearby.” Designer Christophe Mathieu

Click here to view the Drop collection!

Drip

Bover

The Drip collection has the same structure as the Drop but is a diverse design with a personality of its own. The Drip’s small lampshade is also made of borosilicate glass but with the different shade it gives the impression of a completely different lamp. The versatile design of the Drips fits perfectly both in residential and commercial settings with the choice of glass creating a brilliant light.

Click here to view the Drip collection!

Marietta

Bover

The Marietta is a contemporary, decorative, warm, and enveloping outdoor pendant deigned by Joana Bover. The lamp is designed for outdoor terraces, and also for kitchens and bars. The design is a perfect go-to for all these space with its versatility and easy clean shade.  Designer, Joana is always looking for versatility in her designs and works to create pieces which can stand next to classic or contemporary designs. The outdoor suspension is made from white polyethylene with a wave-like texture form.

"Every little detail of Marietta Outdoor was thought about a thousand times. Bover takes this precise approach with every lamp they design. This is what separates many products from others. The quality lies not only in the materials but also in the industrial development behind them." Joana

Penta

Bover

In 1996 Gonzalo Milà and Juan Carlos Ines designed a lamp made of aluminium. Until now the design had only been a prototype but the time has come for it to be launched with a very important change, replacing the initial folded plate with the stamping technique. The Penta family is made up of a suspension, a table and a floor light each with three finishes; brass, aluminium and copper. Choose a corner and let Penta create its warm atmosphere, either illuminating a space or as mood lighting thanks to the incorporated dimmer.

“The premise was to make an interior lamp in which you could have a lightened surface that doesn’t dazzle”. Gonzalo Milà and Juan Carlos Ines

Brokis

Product focus – Brokis Macarons

The Brokis Macaron collection was released earlier this year and pays homage to the beauty and complex structures of crystalline stone. Enclosed in delicate handblown glass is a stone plate which seems afloat within the opposing domes. The light casts an upwards glow from the base while the centre plate creates a subtle and mesmerizing lighting effect from the chalcedony veins.

Brokis

The concept is based on the principle of illuminating stone and the collections name refers to the similar shape of the famed French meringue confection. Natural imperfections in the glass make each light a unique original and the purity of the natural materials and artisanship applied gives the light an extraordinary ambience.

Brokis

The Brokis Macaron comes in three sizes, the largest of which also makes a great floor light. The family is available in several glass colours options and with either white or honey onyx. The collection offers an alternate version featuring a centre plate made of fused glass shards in combination with a wooden base.

The Suspension is a reinterpretation of a traditional chandelier with sophisticated modern technologies and contemporary materials. The other designs in the collection also have the same contemporary feel with the same reflective flat Fresnel lenses, a result of a brilliant design and manufacturing process.
