Wastberg

The new refined Winkel

The new w127 Winkel is a developed version of Wastberg’s award winning and best selling task light originally introduced in 2012.

Wastberg

Wastberg have worked hard to refine some key areas of the lamp such as the mechanics, and operation and of course the light source.

The w127 is the result of a collaboration between Wästberg, the Berlin-based designer Dirk Winkel and the Gemany-based chemical company BASF. They spent more than three years developing what they consider the most refined task light ever seen.

The w127 winkel challenges the perception of plastic, going further than the norm, not only in terms of function and looks, but also in terms of the feel and tactility of the material. No second skin, no paint coat; the true, bold material in its pure form.

It is based on over 60% biologically sourced and recyclable material from the castor plant. This represents a step ahead by setting the course for producing independently of mineral oil based plastics.

Coelux

Established in 2009 CoeLux have created a unique lighting system which reproduces the true effect of natural sunlight entering through an opening in the integrated ceiling, with a realistic sun perceived at infinite distance surrounded by a clear deep blue sky.

Coelux

David Village Lighting is very excited to now be working with Coelux and bring you the experience of the sky. We are always looking to work with the latest technology and we love the CoeLux design so much we are installing an integrated panel into our new Broomhill, Sheffield showroom.

Coelux

The beautiful skylight look is achieved thanks to the comprehensive work carried on by an interdisciplinary team of researchers in the field of optical physics, numerical modelling, chemistry, material science, architecture and design.

CoeLux combines three key elements: the latest LED technology which reproduces the sunlight’s spectrum; a sophisticated optical system that creates the sensation of the distance between the sky and the sun; and nanostructured materials, only a few millimeters thick, which recreate the entire Rayleigh scattering process which occurs in the atmosphere.

“CoeLux lighting systems reproduce a virtual experience of the sun and sky; especially in a below-ground environment, the effect is so powerful that it may radically change our perception of reality. It allows us to rediscover natural light in the real world in a totally new and surprising way”.

Prof. Paolo Di Trapani, company founder and CEO

David Village Lighting has been working with Grok for many years on projects but we now introduce Grok to buy online as we think the range is also great for residential interiors.

New Equatore collection from

Fontana Arte

At David Village Lighting we pride ourselves on supplying the best in modern lighting and we love it when a new release sees a classic design modernised.

The new Equatore collection by Fontana Arte is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lamp with a glass shade.

While the traditional Gabriele e Oscar Buratti design uses the shade to contain the light source the shade is suggestively empty.

Fontana Arte

The light is produced by the LEDs and thanks to internal screens arranged in layers, is distributed regularly across the surface of the discs, magically illuminating them.

The lower disk directs the light output downwards and the upper one illuminates the glass cap for a soft, diffused light.

The Equatore family includes a table, floor and suspension and is available in two finishes; a cooler version in grey with a dark chrome frame, and a warmer version with a transparent pink cap and a copper-coloured frame.

Prandina

New in from Prandina

Prandina, founded in 1982 focus mainly on the use of blown glass and creating lights which are always different and innovative.

David Village Lighting, founded in 1981 loves working with Prandina as they create beautiful glass pieces which stand out elegantly in a room. The quality of the Italian hand made glass is second to none.

Here we introduce the first phase of three which sees new and exciting families added to Prandina’s collection.

They have explored new ideas for the use of blown glass and creation of products with a timeless design; they have also investigated the study of new and alternative materials.

Prandina

The Santachiara Table is an addition the existing collection with an ash wood base and diffuser in opal white blown glass which gives out a diffused light.

The Gong Wall is a beautiful addition to the Gong family which has many variations.

Engraved blown glass, available in white, gold leaf or with silver, copper or black transmirror metallic finishes. The Metallic structure is available in white, heritage brass or chrome.

Prandina

The new Moonlight Wall is a beautiful new design by Filippo Protasoni. Made from Bassanese ceramic the wall light gives out a soft indirect light.

Muuto

The Iconic Muuto Under The Bell

David Village Lighting loves Iconic designs and the Muuto Under The Bell is one of our favourites.

We love the multi-functional pendant lamp as the design not only provides an ambient light but also enhances the acoustics of the room.

Muuto

A large sheet of recycled plastic felt is heated in a mould and pressed into shape. Available in black and grey, the lamp blends effortlessly into open spaces. The Bell is an example of modern design with hints to Scandinavian values.

Muuto

“Under The Bell is not just a lampshade. When hung over a table or in an open environment it creates its own space within the bigger space. That way, the lamp embraces and shelters the table and people beneath it - both physically and in a more abstract sense. The recycled plastic felt even absorbs sound and helps improve the acoustics of your room.”

Kartell

The iconic Kartell Master chair

After many years of working with Kartell the iconic Master chair is still our best seller from their collection.

The Masters chair is a powerful tribute to three symbolic chairs, interpreted by the creative genius of Philippe Starck.

Kartell

The unmistakable silhouettes of the "Series 7" by Arne Jacobsen, the "Tulip Armchair" by Eero Saarinen and the "Eiffel Chair" by Charles Eames are interwoven into a hybrid giving life to a fusion of original and engaging styles.

The Masters is light, practical and stackable and can be used outdoors.

Kartell

The Masters chair was honoured with the prestigious "2010 Good Design Award" presented by the Chicago Athenaeum - Museum of Architecture and Design and the 2013 Red Dot Design Award.

Brokis

Light Vision 2018

After much anticipation Brokis have now released their new Light Vision collection for 2018.

First shown at IMM Cologne and all designed by Brokis’s Art Director, Lucie Koldova, the new lighting concepts each offer new and unique designs.

Brokis is one of our most loved lighting brands and late last year we were invited to visit them in the Czech Republic and tour their beautiful Janštejn Glassworks. We saw first hand the lengthy process which ensures every light is made to the highest of standard.

Puro Sparkle

Brokis

Puro is a boldly minimalistic collection which was inspired by the Spanish word for ‘Cigar’ which also means ‘Pure’ in reference to the designs clean lines.

The endless variability of the Puro collection has given rise to a new suspension light called Sparkle. Sparkle levitates in space and dominates its interior landscape. It is a light sculpture and the embodiment of positive energy.

Click here to view the Puro Sparkle!

Big One

Brokis

The Big One embodies gentle, poetic and balanced proportions.

Big One is a new large-format light with a matt core. Within a protective outer shell of glass, a ray of light emanates from a smaller glass sphere and passes freely through. The sophisticated design of a bubble suspended in the centre of a large sphere evokes a sense of levitation in space.

Click here to view the Big One!

Jack O’Lantern

Brokis

The Jack O’ Lantern was designed to be a functional object with an aesthetic look of a jewel in the home.

The almost levitating metal frame holds a luminous pearl of mouth blown matt glass.

This subtle and geometrically balanced light offers a wide variety of combinations. It can be hung separately or in vertical lighting arrangements. In addition to the suspension variant, there is also a wall composition comprising five frames joined in a single module for up to five glass spheres, which rely on nothing more than gravity to stay in place.

Click here to view the Jack O’ Lantern!

Ivy

Brokis

Just as plants grow and climb up the walls of a house, Ivy offers a special system of modular components, thanks to which it can be used to achieve a highly innovative take on decorative lighting in both vertical and horizontal compositions. The elegant branches can be hung separately or joined together to create a curtain of light.

Variable, elegant, and precise, Ivy is a high-tech lighting concept well suited to both commercial and residential applications.

Resident

New in from Resident

David Village Lighting has only been working with Resident for a couple of years but they have already shown us a high level of creativity and innovation with both their lighting and furniture ranges.

The New Zealand based company has the desire for new ideas and progression with an appreciation for simple forms.

All Resident designs are developed, engineered and fabricated in-house through special infrastructures meaning they have full control over technique, quality and scale.

Bloom Table

Resident

The Bloom Table light is inspired by the gentle flow of paper lanterns. Adding to the Bloom collection its glorious lit effect is the result of light passing through a finely perforated mesh core and onto the inside of the frosted blown glass shade.

Placed on a plated stainless steel base, the Bloom Table light projects a warm hue upwards. Available in White or Black.

Click here to view the Bloom Table!

Buster Table

Resident

Designed for Resident by Chris Martin of Massproductions the Buster Table is an elegant table lamp available in Stainless Steel and Brass.

Buster’s elegantly machined levers and ball joints work together in harmony giving the user flexibility and directional adjustment. A soft touch switch allows on/off and dimming of a warm LED light source. Buster is ideal for both the home and office.

Click here to view the Buster Table!

Circus Floor

Resident

The Circus Floor Light is a unique design of interlinking rings, inspired by the jewellery stands that would typically adorn a makeup table.

Handmade in New Zealand and designed by Resident Studio, each Circus ring projects an elegantly diffused warm LED light outwards 360-degrees.

Circus is a beautiful decorative floor lamp with a small base, making it convenient for both commercial and residential spaces.

Click here to view the Circus Floor!

Parison Table

Resident

The Parison Table Light is a collision of technology and craft. The final effect is a soft milky table sculpture which emits light, resembling a soap bubble resting on a tabletop.

The Parison Table light quietly anchors a room, subtly and deliberately imperfect, glowing softly and holding its own.

Marset

New in from Marset

Marset

David Village Lighting is always excited about new releases and loves to learn more about the ideas.

A favourite of ours, Marset, has recently released three brand new designs and a handful of new styles to some of their best selling collections.

We love working with Marset and their designs as they create more than just a lamp, they create pieces which create an atmosphere with character to improve our quality of life.

Below is a little bit about the new releases.

Dripping Light

Marset

Beyond its function as a lamp the Marset Dipping Light table seeks to excite.

Designer Jordi Canudas wanted to capture the essence of light and experiment with dipping a bulb into paint several times with the result this beautiful table light.  The various layers of paint draw concentric circles and capture the light, moderating its intensity.

This collection is available in two sizes and several colours: green, amber, pink, white, black and blue. When turned on, its different shades of paint sift the light, creating a magical ambient effect. When off, its coloured glass sphere is an object charged with beauty perfect for a shelf, bedside, or table.

The Dipping Light has recently been given a Metropolis Likes award.

Click here to view the Dripping Light collection!

Discocó Oak

Marset

If there is one iconic lamp in the Marset collection, it’s the Discocó. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary the Discocó has been released in a new finish, oak.

The new edition is available in a 68cm pendant model with American oak discs and a black chrome structure.

The new Discocó pays homage to the original and with is new wooden discs it emits a welcoming light.

Click here to view the new Discocó!

Funiculí

Marset

The original Funiculí was designed over 30 years ago but is still just as modern and functional as the day it was designed. This year Marset have brought out a new fabric shade Funiculí, a design that Lluís Porqueras first conceived in 1979 but that is only now seeing the light of day. Respecting the initial design to the fullest, only its proportions have been updated. This new fabric shade is available as a floor, table or wall versions and in two colours; beige or white, with a black structure.

Click here to view the new Funiculí!

High Line

Marset

Another brand new collection from Marset is the structurally beautiful Highline floor.

The svelte line design gives out light without revealing its source. The design is made of three blocks which stand out for their shapes and tones: the vertical, light-carrying element in oak or wenge is attached to a block of lacquered wood fitted to a black base.

The High Line floor is available in 4 finishes and each contrast with the warmth of the wood.

Click here to view the High Line floor!

Santorini

Marset

Santorini was originally created as an outdoor light inspired by the lamps on fishing vessels. Now four years after its release Marset have brought out an indoor suspension version. The essence of the design remains the same but the finishes are more subdued giving the Santorini a softer feel. The Indoor Santorini light can still be direct or reflected simply and easily by changing the shades which are available in four colours: soft pink, clear green, sand or off-white.

Click here to view the new elegant santorini!

Vetra

Marset

Another brand new collection from Marset is Vetra. At first glance it seems no more than a traditional blown glass lamp but designer Joan Gaspar has creatively placed the light source outside-instead of inside-the shade. Vetra features a completely closed glass diffuser giving out a beautiful light without glare directing most of the light downwards.

The collection includes a table, a floor and three suspensions. The table and floor versions feature a stem which is divided into two unequal parts, a feature that breaks the symmetry, adds beauty and elegantly provides an outlet for the cable.

Black, Blue and Smoke

As a family business here at David Village Lighting we are always excited about new lighting families, especially when the latest colour trends are incorporated.

Tom Dixon are right up to the minute with their latest collections.

Expanding on some of their best selling ranges, they have introduced three new colour ways; black, blue and smoke.

 Tom Dixon

Inspired by the 60s theme that brought the Mirror Ball into existence, the crisp, vivid blue finish was taken from the pop art movement and their unapologetic use of colour.

Collections Bell and Copper are now available in this dynamic and refreshing new finish. Chosen because of their futuristic design the bold blue compliments the iconic silhouettes perfectly.

Tom Dixon

Glossy black is often a designer’s favourite finish; it’s sleek, modern and can fits easily into a variation of interior styles.

Popularly used in Japanese furniture design and Bauhaus interiors, the glossy black Bell table is an easy way of adding a stylish feature into your home.

Tom Dixon

To compliment the existing collection of Melt pendant lights, a new smoke colour has been added to the gold, copper and chrome finishes.

The moody yet stylish smokey finish is an increasingly popular choice for contemporary homes. As smoke is not quite as harsh or dark as black, it’s a more versatile feature which adds an edgy style.

DCW éditions

New DCWeditions online

It’s almost been two years since we began working with DCWeditions and our initial thoughts about the quality and design of their products has been confirmed. We have been delighted with their range and professional attitude.

We have recently added some new DCW collections online which bring a modern touch to their nostalgic designs.

Here Comes the Sun

DCW éditions

Here Comes the Sun was first designed in 1970 by French architect, Bertrand Balas. The lamps name was inspired by a song by the icons of pop culture at the time, The Beatles. The design at first glance is like any other but when on it gives out a magical glow.

Here comes the sun is available in a range of sizes and looks beautiful hung alone or in a cluster to create a statement piece.

Click here to view the Here Comes the Sun collection!

In the Sun

DCW éditions

The In The Sun Collection was designed to pay homage to the Sun King, Louis XIV of France. Designed by Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost the family radiates hues of gold and silver and cast soft shadows of light.

Whether wall-mounted, as a ceiling lamp or hanging, the result is consistently magical.

Click here to view the In the Sun collection!

In the Tube

DCW éditions

The In The Tube collection adds a softer more decorative tube light to DCW. Designed again by Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot‑Prévost the collections objective was to be timeless, durable and of high-performance. The family is available in several lengths, diameters and colours.

Click here to view the In the Tube collection!

Biny

DCW éditions

The Biny collection was designed in 1957 by Jacques Biny and still today remains resolutely modern. He was a thorough man who never stopped in his quest to improve how homes where lit.

Functionality was key and he incorporated blinds into the Biny table lamp in order to direct the light onto a surface where needed.

Vibia

New Vibia Collections

Last month we told you all about the new Vibia Guise collection and we are thrilled to share that it is now available along with 2 other brand new families and an addition to the North family.

We have been working with Vibia for many years and in that time we have seen the most beautiful design pieces released by them.

The 3 new collections are all families which all work well placed on their own or together in a space.

Guise

Vibia

The new Guise collection includes two wall versions and both horizontal and vertical pendants. The versatility of the collection allows for it to be placed over a dinning table, in a sitting room, used as office lighting and areas where a cluster of lights is needed. Designer Stefan Diez worked with Vibia to develop a collection which explored the ability of glass. The collection joins together technique and tradition with the latest technology.

Vibia

Guise uncovers a new potential for LED technology with the light source invisible, emanating directly from the material. When off its transparency makes it almost disappear and when on it gives a fluid, luminous presence.

Musa

The new Musa family is designed by Note Design Studio based in Sweden. The Musa design is one of organic qualities and function. The delicate and elegantly designed collection includes a table, a wall and a portable version.

Vibia

The simple design creates a hint of light emitted by the small hand blown opal glass sphere which expands over the space which surrounds it.

The portable version has its own battery which can last up to 18 hours and has a push dimmer on the base making it perfect for adding a glow to a summer evening.

Palma

Desginer Antoni Arola considers Palma as if it were a landscape project that will be transformed over time. The inspiration was to create ambience within an interior setting with a luminous hanging garden.

Vibia

The design introduces planting which is normally associated with the outdoors to an indoor setting. The collection includes a range of pendant and wall versions both with horizontal and vertical designs. In the family there are versions which have both the blown opal glass globe and the pot for a hanging plant and ones which have just the individual glass globe.

Palma has a warm dimmable integrated LED filleted by the 2 half glass spheres which are joined together by an aluminium ring in either graphite or white.

North

The new addition to the North collection is a floor lamp which is suspended from the ceiling using an almost invisible steel cable. The light has a counterweight placed on the ground which guides the electrical cable and allows the stem and shade to be placed wherever required.

Vibia

The North family is an Arik Levy design and is elegant, varied and very adaptable. The new version adds to the family a floor light that luminously covers but does not invade the surrounding space.

Orsjo

New additions to the Orsjo Streck family

At David Village Lighting we love families of lights and we are excited to share that Swedish based design company, Orsjo have expanded their popular Streck family to now include pendant and wall versions. The new additions join the family which already include a table and floor version.

We think the family looks great when used together and helps to create a theme in any room. The floor version is one of our favourites and is great for beside a sofa for reading.

Orsjo

The sleek and elegant Streck design combines powder coated metal components with brushed brass joints. The collection features a warm glowing light both beautiful and environmentally friendly.

“Part of the way I work is very involved in how we look at things – as if we are always on a visit to a museum. Streck is the result of this – the essence of a particular type of fitting I have always loved. With just a few, very carefully selected lines, the Streck family has been given a long life.”

Designer of Streck Joel Karlsson

Lee Broom

The latest releases from Lee Broom

It’s that time of year again for the annual pilgrimage to the Milan Salone Del Mobile to see the latest in Lighting and Furniture design.

David Village Lighting always visits the show to ensure we have the best products available for our customers to choose from.

It’s an extremely busy and hot occasion, along with many showroom events in the city, and this year seemed the busiest to date.

It was great to see so many people interested in well designed products.

Lee Broom is one of the up and coming brands which we feel is both exciting and current so it is with pleasure that we present two of their new collections launched in Milan, which are now available from David Village Lighting.

The new collections are inspired by vertical and horizontal spaces, spherical forms and the refraction and reflection of light.

Lee Broom

The Eclipse range includes a pendant, a chandelier, a table lamp and a surface light.

The simple design features a mirror-polished chrome disc and an acrylic disc which interact creating a mirroring illusion. The Eclipse range works well when placed on its own or featured together.

Lee Broom

The Orion range includes two pendant styles; one with the LED inside the tube and one with the LED inside the Globe. These connect and expand horizontally and vertically to create bespoke features, perfect for creating a statement.

We know it can be hard to add colour into your interior but we have three easy ways to add the Pantone colour of the year, Ultra Violet, into your home. During our three decades of trading a brand that we have always loved for their use of colour is Kartell. Below we show you some of our favourite ultra violet pieces from the Italian brand.

Furniture

An easy way to add a pop of colour to your interior is with furniture. Chairs are a great way to set the tone of a room. The Kartell La Marie chair is a versatile piece suiting dinning areas, dressing rooms and home or office desks.

Kartell

1. Mr impossible   2. La Marie   3. Lou Lou Ghost    4. Thalya

Lighting

Another great way to add Violet into your interior is through the lighting and in particular by using a focus pendant. Using a coloured pendant in a room brightens the space and instantly makes the room feel more inviting.  The Kartell Bloom suspension in lavender is perfect for adding a colourful hue to any room and also adds a little sparkle.

Kartell

1. Battery     2. Easy      3. Bloom

Accessories

Last but not least are accessories, a quick and easy way to instantly brighten up your space. The Kartell François Ghost mirror is great for any room where just a little colour is needed, making a simple accessory a statement piece.

Kartell

1. Sottsass Colonna  2. Componibili  3. Sottsass Calice  4. François Ghost

Light Years

Light Years – New Caravaggio finishes

Since the release of the Light Years Caravaggio pendant in 2005 it has been used in residential and commercial properties across the globe and become a design icon.

We have been working with Light Years since the release and have watched it become the icon it is today.

Light Years

This Spring Light Years have released the Caravaggio in four new beautiful earthy hues; Archipelago Stone, Warm Silk, Dark Sienna and Dark Ultramarine. The new tones add depths and detail yet stay true to the classic shape of the renowned Cecilie Manz design.

The new finishes are available in P1, P2 and P3. The Dark Ultramarine and Dark Sienna cords are stone grey and the mountings are dark matt chrome, while the Archipelago Stone and Warm Silk cords are stone grey with and matt chrome mounting.

The Caravaggio gives out a concentrated downwards light whilst also illuminating the cable through the opening of the pendant.

Light Years

Archipelago Stone

Archipelago stone is a reinterpretation of the grey hues from different stones and pebbles. It is warmer than the original Caravaggio grey yet looks cooler in its appearance.

Light Years

Warm Silk

This warm, delicate soft toned silk finish of the Caravaggio enhances the silhouette of the famous shape in an understated manner.

Light Years

Dark Sienna

The Dark sienna is a deep earthy red. The matt gloss finish borders on the colour of cocoa powder giving an intense yet warm feel, perfect for darker interiors.

Light Years

Dark Ultramarine

The Dark Ultramarine finish is on the verge of being black yet with a bluish hue. During the Renaissance, ultramarine was the finest and most expensive blue pigment used by painters. The shade has a beautiful crisp matt finish and works great both in daylight and darkness.
