Italian designers Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina collaborated in the 1980s to produce the astounding and iconic Artemide Tolomeo collection, which features table lamps, wall lights, pendants and floor lamps in many versions and colours. The pair brought together their industry know-how and technical abilities to produce a light with full flexibility and movement that can be used in a multitude of settings for useful and effective lighting. The Tolomeo’s stamp in history was made when the design was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1989, enjoying worldwide success ever since.

Giancarlo Fassina graduated in architecture from the Milan Politecnico and quickly focussed on creating lighting objects. Collaborating with many brands and designers, Fassina has not only produced lights, but has created installations for museums and exhibitions, proving his versatility and design prowess.

Michele De Lucchi is both a designer and architect, creating objects, lighting, buildings and furniture throughout his prolific career. He is known for having an experimental eye, being at the centre of many radical design movements in the 20th century. As well as the Tolomeo, De Lucchi has created iconic collections such as the Logico and Dioscuri
